The Killers Leave No One Trace of Rigor Mortis

NME Show at Brixton Starring The Killers

Well why the cool people were at the Brits, they missed out on what has to be gig of the year! With a mightily impressive line up, Brixton was rocking to the tunes of the latest great indie bands.

Kaiser Chiefs came on at 7. Early but they got the crowd going with their Darkness-esque brand of fun-rock. Next up Bloc Party impressed with a depth and maturity that will se them become one of the big new bands to watch (would we lie to you!). Some impressive change of paces and a few tricks up their sleeve was impressive to watch. If you were in Reading the night before at the BBC 6 Music with Steve Lamacq live session (at the fez Club) then you know what we are talking about here.
Future Heads had enough Geordie energy that was so infectious you would have to be a zombie to not wanna get involved. Unfortunately the highlight of their set was the Kate Bush cover 'Hounds of Love'. The band got the audience well involved splitting us down the middle as we sang out the weird octave jumping Bush stle warblings. I have to say all 2 thousand of us joined in and did a pretty impressive job!

But of course the main highlight was always going to be everybodys favourite new band The Killers. Bringing a touch of LA glam to the night Brandon Flowers and co came in to the blare of ...... arghhhhhh I cant remember!!! What was it?!

Sporting a shiny picnk jacket and neat black shirt, Flowers never once smiled whilist oozed enough charisma to stamp his arrival in spades. They played most of the 'Hot Fuss' Album and it would be accurate to say that te entire crowd knew every single word from every song! Mr Brightside, top 5 single 'Somebody Told Me' 'On Top'. Mind you the crowning glory was  'All These Things That I've Done' in the encore. The rest of the bands came out at the end section of the song singing back at the singing crowd. It was glory all round!
they must have played 3 or 4 new tracks off what we hope will be the next album and I am happy to report that there are no major changes in direction. Infectious hooks and well obseved lyrics still the norm and I fo one cant wait to get my new hands on any new material.
