Placebo were honoured at the recent Kerrang! Awards, where they were awarded the prestigious Classic Songwriter Award, in recognition of their 10 year contribution to British music, which includes five studio albums and eight million sales.
To mark this occasion, on 9th October Placebo will release the title track from their million-selling album, ‘Meds’.
‘Meds’ is a gradual, claustrophobic and haunting song, which perfectly captures the paranoia of the drug experience. It features a guest appearance from VV of The Kills, who adds subtle, breathy vocals, complimenting the urgency of Brian’s vocal performance.
The single is the title track from Placebo’s fifth album, which was released earlier this year. Since its release the band has toured extensively throughout Europe and Eastern Europe, headlining 11 festivals, including the Isle of Wight Festival and a penultimate slot as the recent Reading and Leeds Festivals.
The band are due to play concerts Australia, China and U.S.A., after which they will triumphantly return to the UK live scene in December when they play their biggest UK shows to date, taking in four UK cities. The tour will not only see Placebo play Wembley for the second time, following their amazing sell-out Wembley Arena show back on November 5th 2004, but also see them play regional arena dates for the first time.
