Turin Brakes Sitting in the Clouds
Q: So, how come you're playing the BT Tower? Gale: Good question, I think we're just asking ourselves that! Ollie: Well it's to do with Dotmusic and British Telecom and stuff. The reason we are doing it is because it's about the most interesting place to play a gig in the whole of the city, that's our main reason for doing it. And also we've just always wanted to come up here, you stare at it for your whole life but are never able to come up and that's kinda frustrating. Now we get to do this and we get to bring eighty other people up here.
Q: Can you see your house from here? Ollie: Almost, we've been trying, it's over there somewhere
Q: Is this the strangest gig you will have played then? Or have you played any other strange gigs? Gale: We did play once in a mental home which was pretty strange. It was one of the very first tours we did, and it was a mental home in Manchester somewhere. It was kind of exciting, it was in a gym, like a school gym. It was kind of cool, but some of the people juts flipped, just went off the handle! Ollie: They did didn't they, they kind of had attacks, aggressive attacks and had to be taken away. Gale: It was so unfortunate, we went there because someone had won tickets in a competition to come to a show, but because he was in this hospital he couldn't come, and so it was arranged that we'd take the show to the hospital, but the guy got so excited that they had to restrain him and wouldn't let him out of his room as he just got too excited, so in the end he didn't get to see the show anyway. Ollie: That's what happens when you're mental.
Q: It's a great idea actually, the mental tour...anyway, so now we know you have played somewhere strange lets move on. Do you suffer from vertigo? Ollie: Yes
Q: So how are you coping so far? Ollie: Quite well actually. I hate it but I quite like it. It's quite strange. I don't like being on aeroplanes but for some reason I'm not panicking up here. Gale: Although you are going to make me sit on the chair next to the window. Ollie: Yeah, when we play he's got to sit next to the window because I'm a bit scared that I might suddenly panic live on air.
Q: So what are you going to be doing for us this evening at the gig? Gale: The gig is only a mini gig really, it's five tracks. Hopefully three new tracks from the new album and two old tracks from our last album.
Q: And it's just going to be you two presumably? Gale: Yes Ollie: Just the two of us |
