On The Couch With Atomic Kitten

‘It’s OK’ is very much in the same style as some of the last singles of the last album. Is that indicative of the new album?

Liz: Not really. I don’t actually think it is the same sound as the last album because we didn’t have any songs from Stargate on the last album and this is a song from Stargate. So I’d say you’re wrong!

Tash: I think just because we’ve had a couple of slow songs everybody is saying they sound the same just because they’re slow. Whereas is we released four fast songs they’d be saying they all sound the same just because they’re fast! But they are different. They’re written by totally different songwriters so they’ve got a different vibe.

Jenny: But on the album itself we haven’t got any particular style similar to Right Now, there really is something for everybody. It’s eclectic pop! There are some nice ballads, some up-tempo stuff, some really good dance tunes…

Tash: There are some from us as well! We get to write on this album.

Tell us more about that…

Tash: Well I’ve written one but it hasn’t got a name, Jenny’s written about five and liz has written about a thousand. Not all for the album though! We’ve all been writing songs that are either going to be used on the new album or as b-sides on upcoming singles. So we get the chance to show our talent!

How was the experience?

Tash: Well for me it was quite scary because writing is not one of my specialties. But I’ve got one under my belt so hopefully that will be the beginning of the path to more songs!

Jenny: (adopts posh accent) Snowball, darling. The writing and creativity will just snowball!

Tash: They’ll just flow out of me!

Do we know when the album is going to be out?

Jenny: We’re probably going to drop the album around November time so we’ll have three singles out before then - ‘It’s OK’ and two others - with the album to follow.

What is the track ‘It’s OK’ about?

Liz: It’s about the moment after you stop dating someone and you’re moping around and basically a girl getting together with her mates and saying ‘Do you know what? It’s fine. You’re not here but I’m just gonna get on with it and have a great time with me mates. See ya laters!

Tash: ‘Coz I’m so over you man!
