"We'll be watching" shout the stars of Live 8 on 'Interdependence' Day!
In a weekend that had ten massive concerts, the finals of possibly the biggest tennis championship - oh and cricket .There is no real shortage of news in the world of the celebrity.
Roger Federer and Venus Williams are now the Wimbledon Champions of 2005, and if you didn't see one of Sir Bob's Live 8 concerts - where were you? There was Will Smith and the Kaiser Chiefs in Phili, Shakira in Paris, and The Killers, Madonna, U2, and Sting in Hyde Park.
Due to a ticket-snatching bouncer at Live 8 I didn't actually get in to see it live - !*@# - but I did watch it on TV, and it was spectacular even then. Paul McCartney kicked off the show with a performance of 'Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band' with U2. There were then performances from Coldplay, The Who, and Robbie - who lived up to the title of his second song. Madonna was in form, and was joined on stage by a now 24-year-old Birhan Woldu, one of the starving children shown in the original Live Aid video.
After rocking to the commentary of Jonathan Ross I watched most of the coverage from Philadelphia, and saw the performances of Destiny's Child, Bon Jovi and Jay Z, and I can now only hope that the hype surrounding this event will make a difference.
The London concert climaxed with a string of Paul McCartney's classic hits, and all the performers singing the chorus to The Beatles hit 'Hey Jude'.
However, the concerts contained comedy as well as music, with 'The Office' dance being performed by Ricky Gervais, and a speech by former leader Nelson Mandela speaking in Johannesburg.
The effect of the event was shown through the World Record breaking 26.4 million text messages sent in by people around the world, calling for the G8 leaders to end poverty.
Among Daily Mail readers Pink Floyd were voted the best performance at Hyde Park, and the U2/Paul McCartney opener topped the iTunes charts in Britain, Canada, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Belgium.

Pink Floyd have also said that they will not profit from their sales due to Live 8, and have called for all the other artists involved to do the same. This announcement was made today, and will satisfy sceptics who thought that some of the acts were involved for their own good.

After Saturday's excitement I tuned in to 'The O.C' hoping to relax, however, in the penultimate episode of the brilliant second season, Caleb Nichol was killed off to the tune of Coldplay's 'Fix You'. This caused Kirsten to become an alcoholic, and leaves everything to be wrapped up in next week's finale. - Sorry for this if you're not a fan!
Protection - we do a lot of it these days. Sun cream for our skin, sunglasses for our eyes, condoms for you know where - but do you remember to protect your hearing?
