Macca from The Red Square

Well, its getting nearer to the big day for me… the big day that I am refereeing to is of course when Liverpool take on the might of AC Milan in the European Cup Final! Oh how I wished I’d put my money where my mouth is and stuck a hefty bet on them at the start of the season! Melanie C has said that she will even get a tattoo of a liver bird done if Liverpool win.(On her derrier none the less!)

She already has a Chinese dragon tattooed on her calf, a phoenix on her back, the word Angel on her stomach and a Celtic band on her right arm.

Hey here’s the shortest story you’ll hear for a while - Seal has married model Heidi Klum in a ceremony in Mexico. Da-dar!

Moving on, Rod Stewart has rescheduled those Earl's Court gigs he was forced to postpone last week due to severe throat trouble. Original tickets will be valid for shows at the same venue on 9, 10 and 11 Dec, although refunds can also be obtained from the point of purchase. Stewart was also forced to pull his Birmingham shows over the weekend, and those dates have been rescheduled for 16 and 17 Jul.

It was the same for the Blue fans – you just never know!

Ricky Gervais is returning to XFM for those of you in London shortly. Saturday afternoons 104.9 is the details you’ll be wanting!

To celebrate their new single for a while Turin Brakes have come up with a funky little game in which you can set butterflies free! Sound like your cup of tea? Get over to www.turinbrakes.com/game/site.php if it is!
The lads release ‘Fishing for a Dream’ 16th May. The album from which it comes is JackinaBox will be out 30th May

They are also playing the following dates. I have seen them 5 times live and I’ve gotta tell you they are one of the best live bands out there, so do try and get down to one of the gigs (if they haven’t all sold out by the time you read this!)

JUNE
9th Birmingham Academy - 0870 771 2000 / 10th Glasgow Barrowlands - 0870 169 0100 / 12th Manchester Ritz 0161 832 1111 / 13th London Shepherds Bush Empire - 0870 771 2000, 020 7403 3331, 020 7734 8932, 020 7434 2222.

For all dates 24hr creditcard hotline 0871 2200 260 / www.gigsandtours.com

A personal favourite of mine KT Tunstall is playing Shepherds Bush Empire this week – we will be there to record the gig so watch out for live footage of that soon on the raft.

Checkout her site www.kttunstall.com for all details and footage of her recent excellent Radio 1 Jo Whiley Live Lounge session.

Paul McCartney is releasing another DVD on June 14th. Titled ‘Paul McCartney in Red Square’ it charts the award winning concert in Red Square, bonus footage from St Petersburg Palace Square, [plenty of behind the scenes stuff and more besides. Further details can be found at
www.paulmccartney.com

I happened to walk past Richard Ashcroft the other day. He was queuing up getting money from a cashpoint in Shepherds Bush. Again not a great story but at least it forms some kind of segue into my next story! The Verve release ‘No Come Down’ on 27th June, a Collection of B Sides and Outtakes. Urban Hymns was in the top 20 of the 100 greatest albums ever in a channel 4 survey recently and this album underlines just why The Verve were that good. I always thought that the B-sides were as good if not better than the tracks that were being paraded and this album proves me right. It was previously available (released in the States in 94 but hasn’t been available for 8 years so make sure you get a copy when its out.
Here’s what you get –

Tracklisting:

1. No Come Down
2. Blue (USA Mix)
3. Make It Till Monday (Acoustic)
4. Butterfly (Acoustic)
5. Where The Geese Go
6. 6 O’Clock
7. One Way To Go
8. Gravity Grave (Live Glastonbury 93)
9. Twilight
